Foundations

It's well known that the foundation is the most important part of the structure of your home. No matter where you live in the world, an appropriate foundation is always required. No matter how well made the rest of your home is, if a poor foundation is put in place, repairs or rebuilds will be inevitable. It is always a good idea to have a walk around your house several times a year to assess whether your foundation is in need of repair.

While all foundations serve the same purpose, different types of foundations have their own problems. Concrete cracks and erodes. Concrete block foundations may require repointing, or block replacement. Stone foundations, which do not often have a parging layer protecting them, need to be repointed, and sometimes stones need to be replaced or re-layed.
